came frome a friends car 727 he said it was tight

I don't know if you noticed but there is two dents in the housing. It doesn't matter what it is. Its junk. If you would ever see one cut apart you would agree.

to me " tight" means low stall. those small dents don't mean much. could have been there before it was rebuilt. if you see how some of these guys treat cores you would shake your head!
 
There is not much clearance in there for the turbine wheel. I personally wouldn't take the chance unless it is going in a trans you don't have alot into. There is not one dent but two. Call up a converter company and see if you can get it loosened up. They will fix those while its there and also give you the estamated stall. You want 3500 for a good performing car. This will usually end up being a 2800 to 3000 behind a small block.Perfect for a mild motor. Actually same as stock performance converter.
 
the turbine is concave and on the other side of the convertor towards the hub. the stator is inbetween the two, but it doesnt touch the cover. most times those fins are furnace brazed anyways.
