question>>>>other then one being HUGHES 10.250 in. and one being HAYS 10" is that a real big difference performance wise.....thanks

Pretty vague.. Probably best to call a reputable converter company with your car specs and have them build one to suit.

The smaller the convertor the higher the break away RPM..usually. Id trust a Hughes before a Hays.

Actually, even in my reduced state of '70ish if you think one or the other might work for you, I'd take the time and labor to throw it in and try it, or them. 'Course, I have the ugly as hell, works like a charm, redneck trans jack LOL

I don't understand why you would need the extra bottom steel square tubing. ANd what is it connected to in the back. I love this idea

There are way too many variables in torque converters to comment based solely on the diameter.

A torque converter is not a place to save money, extra spent here for quality will make a huge difference in your car.

The only place to test a converter is in the car on a dragstrip. There is one that will be perfect but realistically its impossible find out so you use your best judgement. You will never know the difference on the street. IMHO

Daymn that's a slick tool. I am so gonna build me one. I am so tired of slamming them up there and starting the bolts with my other arm/hand.

In the late 70s/early 80s, worked at a trans rebuilding shop, that had a test mule engine. Every auto trans built there was tested and adjusted before getting the stamp of approval. We could also bolt any TC on there we wanted to. And we could cut those TCs open and fudge them up pretty good; hey it was the 70s,lol; that's how it was done.
