I am so bummed. I just got my motor put back in and got her running forthe first time in a very long time. My trans cooler line was squirting and the car was driving when thepush button was in N. I got the two rear wheels up in the air and when i fire her up they start to spin. When i give her gas they dont spin much faster. She does this in all gears, even reverse. I dont know why . can some one give me some ideas on what to do next. First i may need to put a new radiator in because the cooller male in broke off in side the radiator. im going to try and rethread it, but, im not sure that will turn out the way i want.

fishy68 is REAL sharp on these. Maybe he will chime in. If not....shoot him a PM. He is a super nice guy.

I need a new radiator!!!!! I was drilling the broken male end out and went through the tube inside. Now trans fluid and coolant would mix/. Damn it. Does any one have a radiator they can sell me. Im in San Diego Ca.

Unfortunately I've never worked on a cable shift TF at all but I have read that if the cable is out of adjustment it can do crazy things like pulling in drive. I don't have a service manual for an early A so I don't know the cable adjustment procedure but that's the first thing I'd check out. Maybe try a search here on the board or a google search for torqueflite cable shift adjustment procedure once you get the radiator problem solved.

Another way to solve the radiator problem without replacing it is to block off the cooler in the radiator and run the trans. solely off of an auxiliary cooler. You can get them from a lot of auto parts stores, Summit, JEGS, etc... Get a pretty good sized one cause heat is a torqueflites enemy.

I used to have a pushbutton linkage in one of my old Chryslers and Fishey is right.
Probably not an actual trans issue but a control system problem.
The part that sucks is that you will have a heck of a problem finding anyone that has actually seen one, let alone knows how to adjust that linkage.

Thanks alot fellahs. I would have spent 3or 4 hundred dollars on a new radiator if not for you. Thank u.
