I posted a similar post in the suspension forum and thought that maybe the race forum could give me a little more practical opinions.
In pulling the old exhaust we nicked a torsion bar with the cut off wheel so we need to replace it. The car is a 74 Duster with a 318 that we are building to get close to 400hp and then spray a 100 shot. It has 3.90 gears, XHD leaf springs and adjustable 90/10 front and 50/50 rear shocks.
Since we have to replace the torsion bar anyway what would the best ones be for a car that will be driven to the track and a few cruise ins but which we really want to hook at the strip? Thanks

The smallest drag racing bars will hook the best but may not provided the stiffness for the street. The 318 bars should be fine. Slant 6 bars are nomally thicker than the drag race bars.

My buddy, here, the Ledgend, has a all steel 69 Dart with /6 cooling and T-bars. I think he said he clicked off a 1.42 60ft time on the OE bars.

Good enuff for ya?

i run the 318 bars in my 493" car.

I think the gains to be had going to /6 or drag bars is a myth.

That is the general consensus among the racers , and I know 2 people that have tried the different bars with 0 gain.
