Hi,

To get my car properly registered to tow according Belgian law, I need to know the manufacturers max towing capacity for a Dart Swinger 318 ci from 1973.
Anyone in the possession of some official (looking) Chrysler/Dodge document stating such figures?

Thanks for helping out.

Isn't that info in the back of the owner's manual, where it shows how to build a hitch?

Not a clue, but I'm heartbroken you guys aren't going through to Moscow

...so if you could find an owner's manual for your year and model.....

ebay?

According to my little Govier book, there were two towing pkgs available in 1973, but no GVWs are listed. I seem to remember a sticker on the drivers door frame listing the maximum GVW. Or maybe on the underside of the trunk lid.
The Pkgs were; Sales Codes A34 and A35. They should be on your Broadcast sheet.
I know; this doesn't help you much.

Nice looking dog; looks almost exactly like mine, lol.

I have a 73 service manual and 73 Dart Owners manual here somewhere.. I will take pics and post tomorrow.

Hi,

thanks for helping out. I've the Dodge 73 manual (red cover) too, but did not find those details yet?

I believe its in the owners manual.
I left the house at 5:30 a.m to play hockey and wont be home till after 8 tonight. Will look for it then.

Thanks, the French played it very well and the ref (was just a little biased), but mainly our players were just not good enough yesterday!

Thanks again. Only have the service manuals...

Hi, it was delivered without any towing package... As far as I know, no EU car had those factory installed, since US towing packages are not homologated in any EU country... (you can get a exceptional homologation for US hitches if no EU manufactorer has one!)
My hitch has been custom built couple of years ago, based on a copy of original drawings from a 68 hitch (of my fathers car). Unfortunately, the drawings mentioned no max capacity, that's a separate document I did not recover. Will look for those stickers though I can't remember having seen those yet... (maybe only attached when equipped for towing?)

I went thruough the owners manual and service manual and find no reference to towing capacity. I even checked several other model and years owners manuals and none show towing limits.

Here is the Valiant page from the 1967 Plymouth Towing brochure. Looks like 1500 lbs without the towing package or 200 with. Keep in mind the factory towing package did NOT include a hitch assembly, that was to customer fabricated per the instructions included. If you need better scans let me know.
