Hey guys. has anyone ever swapped out a later 904A with lever for an earlier model with the cable control? If so,how did you adapt the shift linkage to work properly? I guess I should mention they are both column shif automatic.Thanks,Dan

Imperial Services makes an adapter cable. Also bear in mind the 1965 column shift mechanism was unique to that year. A 1966 column and shift linkage could also be swapped in allowing the use of any later transmission.

If you plan on using the '68 and newer transmission, you may have a converter problem too. '67 and earlier 273's and slant 6's have a crank with a small diameter converter hole. The '68 and later use a larger diameter one.
