Hey guys. As you can see in my signature, I eventually want to put a 6 speed in my bcuda. The 4 speed is the first step in that direction, which is to just get the entire car set up for manual and then just swapping out the trans and the drive shaft at a later date. However, looking at Richmond transmissions, the only transmissions for Mopars that they sell have 18 splines which are used by big blocks. I don't have or desire one in this car. In the year one catalog, there is are clutch sets made by mopar with the 10.5 clutch disc that has 18 splines and will fit the big blocks and one with 23 splines for small blocks. It also comes with a pressure plate. The pressure plate is the same for both clutch discs.
big block one
small block one

note they both use pressure plate #FD04. The only difference is the BB one has 18 splines and has a high effort. Could I use the BB set for the small block? From the looks of it yes. My dad also says that it is possible to get a custom clutch disc for a small block that has the 18 splines necessary for this. Is this possible or is it all just conjecture on my part?

In my opinion, do your research, pick the 5/6 speed you want and put it in as a package.

If you go screwin around with a factory setup, you might just find you need to change some of the setup, including the crossmember, and will have spent a lot of money on the 4 speed.
