I made a thread on here a couple of weeks ago asking for advice on my 340 duster. I've already sent in the motor to be rebuilt, so the next issue is the transmission. The 340 has a 490 lift cam, ceramic coated headers, 3 inch exhaust, and a 650 cfm carb. I plan on throwing on edelbrock aluminum heads, and an 850 cfm carb. I also have a 8 3/4 with 3.23 gears. I've been looking into cope transmissions, but I'm not really sure where I should go.

Any advice on a transmission and torque converter to throw behind it that will not only be good for now, but also be good after the changes I plan on making?

Thanks.

I have a 408 in my 73 duster and currently have the 727 tranny..with 3.23 gears......I have run the 904 with the lower first gear and it is way faster....I plan to go back to it. As for the the 850 carb...I would not go above a 750 unless you have a really high stall and lower gears.

Yes I,m with Dusterforever,I have a small stroked 340(372)pumping out 452hp at the flywheel.I run a Holley 750 v.s,my engine builder was an old Mopar drag racer and told me at time of dyno, not to go bigger with carb. I,m happy with it,s performance!

I just installed a pro street reverse manual tranny that was purchased from Cope Racing Transmission. Nice piece and works fine. Along with it I purchased a 9 1/2" convertor from Dynamic. Call Sean and see what he recomends for your application.
