I mounted up one of my small block TrickFlow heads today so I could flow test the M1 before I send it back and to get before and after numbers on the RPM intake and Victor340 intakes. I only flowed I think one port on these heads then I welded the one up and moved the pushrod hole over. Then I grabbed the other head and screwed up the seat trying to cut it for 2.08 valves. Every other port on that head was untouched so that was to be my test head. I posted up the numbers last year on the other head in our flow chart post. Well imagine my surprise just now when at .600 I started to hear turbulence. At 625 lift my depression meter went nuts and flow fell rapidly. I’m going to try the other two ports and hopefully have a good one to test these manifolds on. When I went to check airspeed at .600 it almost ripped the probe out of my hand trying to get to the center of the shortside. Meter pegged at 401 FPS

How did you correct the turbulence and were you able to determine what caused it?

All I’m doing with the head now is using it to test the before and after flow numbers on an RPM intake and Victor340 intake I’m flowing porting for a member. And one last test on an M1 intake I ported so I can ship it out. I can fix the head but I can’t take the time right now. It needs a new seat anyway as I ruined one trying to put a bigger valve in them (thanks for nothing TrickFlow). The head needs more area at the shortturn so I will tube them and widen the some in that area. I’ll probably just knock all 8 intake seats out and make good heads out of them with 2.08 valves.

John, less chatting on the forum and more work please. You need to get caught up so I can send you a set of heads and intake! :p
