Went to summerduck drags here in Va. I guess the weather kept people home tonight, only 3 other cars there (2Camaros and 1Honda) and they didn't want to run me....lol! Oh well I went there to see what the gear change did to the numbers. 8.4 at 82mph. 1.9-60ft. Lots o fun.

`71 340 .030 over, j heads p&p, headers, full exhaust, holley 670, rpm air gap, manual steering, orange box, electric water pump, 727 with some goodies, 2500 stall, 8 1/4 with 3.55, Hoosier quicktime pro 26x9.5x14. Lightened as much as possible without cutting it all to hell. Just completed the swap to 4.11 gears. Also have a 3000 stall that i guess i`ll put in over the winter. Then mini tub to get it to hook, well you get it the list never ends but the money always does. lol

What gears did you have before? What improvement did you see?

Went from 3.55 to 4.11, times went from 8.7 at 80 to 8.4 at 82. Was hoping for more but o well. Next time I'll try open headers, maybe a bigger carb, no hood, I don't really know. I`d like to see a 7. Any ideas?

P.S. How to get the video to show and not just a link?

I run 84-85 in the 1/8 & 8.0s-8.teens, thats with 60fts. right at 1.81-1.82., this is with a 650dp & 3.73 gears, 2800 11" PTC converter, you need to get the 60ft. down at least a solid tenth, then you'll see 8.2s i'm sure, have you ever weighed the car with you in it?

I weighed the car with me in it a couple yrs ago, it was 3280 with me in it. Since then I have lightened some, not sure how much. It was still spinning some. Had 20lbs in the back tires, 50 up front...lol.

Maybe I need a better than stock fuel pump?

Its possible, but beleive it or not, i ran my fastest passes on a stock house FP LOL.
 
Nice pass!Do you run with your air breather on or off.I run without mine and 18 inch extensions from open headers.Taking my exhaust and air breather off helped drop my pass by 4 tenths,believe it or not.What shocks are you running?

Thanks blue. I dont run the air cleaner. I`ll hopefully be going back to the track thursday without the exhaust. Stock shocks, leafs and all just bolted the leafpak together in front of the axle.
 
A couple tips,pull your front swaybar pins and get your snubber as close to the floor as you can.Good luck!
 
Nice what color was the camaros and where they the newer style. Because one of them might of been me, I have a red 02 Z28 Camaro that runs 8.48-8.55@ 85mph..I would had run you I'am not scared..
 
I don`t remember what colors. LOL They were running 8.7 , 8.8.

bad idea... makes the aerodynamics worse...

Ya that was me ya I did red light but Who made it to the finish 1st LOL I didn't red light that bad. My reaction was 4.9X almost perfect..Ya we do need to go to the track but I will be racing the 73 duster this year...My dad said hey his name is Boo Hare..

No way.... whats up dude! I thought I still ran you down at the end..I`ll have to dig up the slip. Tell your Dad I said hey. I`ve changed gears since that run and will have the new converter in soon. Bring that crapmaro back. j/k:toothy10:

Nothing much. The win light came on on my side. Ok I will tell him. Thats cool I'am getting rid of the Camaro. I got this street car 1973 duster now.. I'am running 456 gears and I'am going with a 4000-4500 stall. I'am using 28x12.50x15 M/T E/T Streets.
