TTI Headers w/Thermal Barrier

Does anyone know how or what the thermal barrier works on the TTI headers?

The thermal barrier is the greenish/brown stuff they spray on the inside of the headers. It keeps the heat in the pipes to speed up exhaust scavenging.

The more heat that stays in the tubes, the less is radiated into the engine compartment! It also helps protect the interior of the header from rust and corrosion which can weaken it over time and form a rough surface which will hurt flow.
