and theyre annoying me.

setup is the fully coated and polished tti step headres for a body, bolted to indybrock heads with stage 8 locking header bolts.

both the collectors and head flanges are leaking. i purchased some copper gaskets from summit for replacement.

what install practices for the copper?
rtv?
torque spec?
tightening pattern?
other suggestions?

this is the third set in 2 years and 2000 miles. im starting to get annoyed.

i looked through that link, and didnt see the answer.

i guess ill look for carbon tracing sunday when i pull it apart. it truly sounds like an exhaust leak going down the highway. i ran the valves on the solid roller jsut to eliminate the possibility.

Look at post #72 in that thread. was on page 4 on my computer, may be different on yours.

found it. thanks.

ill take a look at the gaskets sunday and see what they look like. i may try another solution, though, than yanking the headers and welding them. dunno yet. well see what happens.

Let us know what you come up with. It will be good info to put out for others with the same issues.

Good luck.

The best header gaskets I have used so far are the mutilayer aluminum ones. Copper always leaked for me also. I'm not running TTI just old Headmans.

I just can't believe after plunking down major money for TTI you would have these problems. I was ready to buy some. I always had good luck with Hooker
other than ground clearance. I'm glad I read this.

My dad has custom headers on his LS-7. He don't even use gaskets at all. Just puts a beed of this orange stuff on there and bolts them down. Never has had a leack at all. Don't know if that will work at all for you but. mabby?
