Who's got tubular uppercontrol arms on there A bodies? I'm in the market for a set and wanted some input. Cost, Quality, where to buy? How much weight savings. My Duster bracket car needs some weight reduction....

I have had both Magnumforce and RMS upper arms.....the RMS one's are a better fit.

I've got the magnum force upper a-arms on my 72 dart .
If I had it to do over again I'd probably spend a little more and go with rms or at least a set of the adjustable ones. too many modifications needed for clearance with the mag.force units imo.

What about CAP ? I called Mancini, they said that's what brand they were. I'm looking at a set with heims. This is a race only car.

I have a set from CAP on my Challenger. The fit is good, no issue's there. Their instructions were pretty lacking, and at least for the bushed joints they don't include spacers that are needed. Not sure if they include spacers with the heim joint versions. Also, they appear to be MIG welded, I know a lot of the other ones are TIG welded. It shouldn't be a problem, but there are better built arms out there. Some folks here have had issues with CAP, I wasn't on this board at the time to know. I personally haven't had issues with them or their products, so far I have about 1700 miles on their UCA's, LCA's, and strut rods without any problems.

If I were to buy another set I think I'd go with Magnumforce's adjustable arms. They're more expensive, but they look the part.

I dont know what tubular arms weigh but the stock arms aren't massive heavy. 4 pounds difference maybe ? Tubular arms are more about adjustments than weight loss.

What kind of racing? If you're doing road/autocross, you should look at the Magnumforce Double adjustable arms. These allow adjustment of the A arms without removing them from the car, which would allow you to change camber settings according to various tracks, weather conditions etc... without ever taking the arms off the car.

As far as weight savings vs the originals, I doubt its much if any. But the aftermarket ones will not only give more adjustment, but get rid of the flex that the stockers have.

I'm drag racing. I run in the 7.0 1/8 mile class. I ordered a Aerospace disc brake kit and sold my factory disc brake set up with the upper control arms.

I used CAP, on my car. They fit OK, you do have to shim them and they are fully adjustable. It took quite a while on the alignment rack and that cost. It was a big improvement and I'd use them again, the welds looked good and the finish was good. One more thing, your UCL tabs were not tig or mig welded..so the weak point isn't the UCL it'd be the anchors.

I just started taking my front apart. I will weigh every part and post the weights as well as the weights for my new tubular upper and lower arms. I would have had them out today but my T-bars are not playing nice and I was out of O2 to cut them out.

I don't think any weight will be saved.I bought magnum force ones 5 or so years ago because I couldn't find the one I needed for the big bolt pattern change and got tired of looking at used junk ones.

Had to cut and modify and weld to install

One of the things I considered about tubular arms was clearance for coil overs if I decide to go with them and price. I've checked prices on a few and they all seem to be close.

There was a FABO member a few months ago that powdercoated a CAP K member and it bent. The customer thought it came bent but CAP said that it bent during powdercoating which has to be either a lie or the part was a POS. At any rate CAP would not refund the money or return calls or even refund half. Search CAP and you will find the thread(s) to the whole sordid affair.

Just thought I'd concur with the guys that say their isn't much diff in weight. I just bought a set of Magnum force arms and although I didn't weigh them I can tell by the feel there's hardly any diff. at all.

BTW: What's the mods you guys are talking about when using the magnum force arms? I haven't gotten around to installing mine yet so it'd be nice to know what I'll run into since they didn't send any paperwork whatsoever.

Dart72 hope you don't mined me asking that question on your thread.
