Tune Up preferences?

Any one have a preference to get tune up parts for a slant 6? I dont wanna go to autozone or advanced auto crap for their chinese junk. :violent1: Can anyone tell me where i can find good stuff. american stuff? i dont care if i gotta order it. If i have to go to autozone i will but....id prefer to get good quality stuff. thanks guys :wave:
 
A "tune-up" used to mean changing the points, maybe the rotor & cap, adjusting timing, and changing or re-gapping spark plugs. If you have electronic ignition, you need only check/adjust timing ~30K mi to account for timing chain wear. If you have points, many would suggest going electronic. Platinum plugs can go 50K miles without wearing, assuming your carburetor works well. Since ~1985 cars, "tune-up" was mostly a scam by shops to charge $60 to unwitting owners for changing 4 spark plugs, it they even did that.
