Two tone early A dash

Was there ever a color combo or situation where the dash on an early A could be two tone, as in two different colors?

I noticed in these pics from the @RustyRatRod thread, the dash appears to be tone of the same color because the horizontal surface appears more matte.

Would it have been possible to have had a dash with matte black on the horizontal and red everywhere else?

All of the 63, 64 & 65s I have owned have had the top of the dash painted a flat/ matte version of the same color as the dash. I've not seen one that had a flat/ matte black top surface unless the dash was black.

Find that 64 Valiant advertisement video you JUST posted a couple of days ago and listen to it closely. It talks about that. Says they used a matte finish on the dash top to cut glare. It's right in the video. I thought that was cool. As far as a completely different color......I don't know if the factory ever did it, but there's no reason you cannot.

Yes.
Here’s a pic from ‘66 assembly manual (page 369) and it shows the upper horizontal surface as “suede” and the vertical is “gloss”.
What is confusing on the ‘66 is the difference between turquoise interior (turquoise dash) and light blue interior with a dark blue dash.

I did my 65’s dash dark blue on tge top light blue on the vertical. It will have a light blue dash pad

My early build 63 has black dash top and red been that way since day 1.

My 65 barracuda which was gold inside and out had a flat brown colored dash area just below the windshield. When I redid the car we did it in flat black. I don’t think anyone noticed.
