Hey y'all. I'm new to A Bodies but I'm over on B Bodies also. Been there for a minute. I'm joining up here cuz I'm working on a LA motor that was in the RR I got. Long story, but a good one. I'm under the same name iffin ya want to check it out. I find most of my google enquiries send me to abodies so I figured I'd go ahead and jump in.
I am not a mechanic by ant stretch of the imagination. My forte over the last 35+ years has been in LARGE steel fabrication. Worked my way up from apprentice to shop supervisor when I finally said enough. Just got tired of the small things weighing 7 tons and needing an 18 wheeler to haul them off.
Over the years (mostly the early ones, before kids) I built or rather bolted together a few hot rods 99% of which were MOPARs. Only one four letter car. I was wanting to build another hot rod with my wife's blessing this time. That's how the RR came into my life. My favorite car from my past was my first generation 68 RR only 70 k on the odometer. Started bolting on parts to go faster. I did have some internal work done, punched it out 30 and put a B&M kit in the tranny (can I say that?) and went faster. I soon needed a new body and found a one owner, excellent condition, 1965, pure white, Coronet 440. I think it had a polly 318. Didn't matter I snatched all that out and basically tossed it then put the RR drive train in her. Along with the buckets, console and some other work and went even faster. Till I didn't.
My second child was born a few months prior to my catastrophic heavy foot fail and oddly enough my priorities were taking a turn towards domestication. Now four grand children and a career later I want to go faster again. I still do the fab stuff, just a lot smaller and in my own shop. I have more time and patience now, so no short-cuts.
Here is a photo of the car and the motor that was in it. Car was suppose to be all original... suppose to be. Turns out that it didn't have the 318 any more and wasn't the original color. So I found an early 400 and tranny (there I go again) to swap out. I love the yellow it actually matches one of my bikes. The motor they put in was a win for me (kinda). Early 1972 forged crank 340. Yeah buddy! Now I need to find a a decent Cuda body for a later build, maybe a a Dakota if that gets to expensive. Been doing a lot of unplanned work on the LA motor. Time and money that was earmarked for the 400. I'll do more explaining in a build or resto thread. Look for me there. I don't post often, but I do ask questions and seems to be some people on both sites with a whole lotta knowledge. Lord knows I can use that.
So thanks for having me and I look forward to our conversations.

Nice car! My buddy bought one of those in the late 80's while he was stationed in Pearl Harbor. It was a factory sunroof car. I'm in the same boat as you. I do A, B, and E Bodies but find much more useful info here.
