I am friends with Robert Landy on Facebook. I feel kinda honored, considering who his father was as well as who he is. He's no lightweight in the Mopar world, or car hobby in general himself.

Anyway, he posted that he was at a recent motorsports event and happened by chance to run into Linda. He said she looked great and was her usually cherry self. I know how much she is loved around here, so I thought I would pass that along.

Was just watching her, in a movie last night. Appreciate the heads up,Rob.

We talked to her at the Autorama last year, and my brother talked to her at Norwalk, both times she seemed to be her cheery self!!

You know, I know she's gettin "up there" but she's still got it goin on!

this is my grandfather with Linda at the Summernationals in 1979! She still laughs about how good their curves fit together!! This is our favorite family picture!!if you were able to zoom in, you could see my cousin, my brother and I sitting on top of my grandpa's camper watching the drags!! But then, if you were able to zoom in, I doubt you'd be looking at us!! :)

Back then Linda held the unofficial title of "Earth Mother of Drag Racing".
Take a bow, Linda!

Got nothing to add about Linda, but I love all the photos Robert posts from the "Old Days"!

 My asphalt plant control room was the subject of a regional company sexual discrimination caucus once. Seems someone took offense to Miss Hurst Golden Shifter and numerous Makita tool posters on my office walls. They were all clothed  , some more than others.

And she usually did, too. I saw a picture of her at a recent event at the Barona dragstrip that's just north of San Diego and she's hanging in there.
About 10 years back she came to the Detroit area for the Woodward cruise. I happened to catch a radio interview with her, she must've caught the DJ checking her out and made the comment "yeah Dolly and I drank from the same well".

"Take a bow, Linda" was what you heard coming from the stands back in the days she was taking that slow ride down the drag strip as Miss Hurst Golden Shifter.
I'm gonna blame me not knowing that on
A, me being 35
B, me not having grown up here

But I get why they were saying it

Hmmm ... the word 'Unexpected' in the title of this thread kind of implies she may have died .

Well she is alive and kicking' at 75 and still going !

I did a search and found Legacy.com had 4 pages of obits for 'Linda Vaughn'
fortunately none were for our favorite Linda Vaughn she out lived them all :)

No, it just means it was totally unexpected, just like I titled it. Do you know what the word means? It means something that surprised you or caught you off guard. You know, somethin you weren't lookin for.

How you got dead outta that eludes me.

I guess its the way we are feed bad news .
Example : "the unexpected death of " or accident or injury

The word 'Update' combined with 'Unexpected' help make one wonder what happened ?

I agree, when I read the title the first thing I thought was she was unexpectedly admitted to a hospital or something, etc. kind of a click-bait type of title almost.
