It's been a while since my last post, but things have been moving along at a nice pace. Almost all of the piece parts have been restored and waiting to be installed. Thanks to FABO I have located all of the parts/vendors needed to do a top notch resto on this baby. Finally got to squirt some color today and it feels real good! I'm using single stage Dupont for the trunk, inner fenders and interior and the match is pretty close to my orig. panels. I will be using a PPG BC/CC formula for the body that I found right here on FABO. Let's hope it's correct! I'm upgrading to '73 disc's in front and just found new axles with bearings installed for $299.00 on line with the 5X4.5 BP. I still haven't made a decision on wheels, but leaning toward those incorrect, but beautiful, '70 Rallye's. Posting a few pics for your enjoyment.

Thanks for all of the great encouragement! The dark gray is correct and there will be green overspray on the floors and inner wheel wells, etc. as it was from the factory

1fine,
It never fails, just when I think I have myself convinced that I am happy with my chosen color....... I see a different color that looks just awesome. This color will look simply bad a$$ on your car!

I am getting ready to start the body work on my 71 Dart project. How did you prep the bottom side of your car before you sprayed the gray? I have completely stripped mine and cleaned it up pretty well with a pressure washer (still could use a little more attention). Yours looks really clean, did you blast it or what else did you do? Thanks for the help. L8r

My vote.....Keep it real.No Rallyes.
Steelies with redline dog dishes are the only way to go on that car.
And since you have the big bolt pattern you can go to a 15"x7" Steel wheel from a C body car. They bolt right on. 15's look awesome on A bodys with a 60series tire. Here is a set of C body 15's with 235/60-15 BFG's on my 74. Got the rims for $100.00,then powder coated them.
Completely changed the attitude of the car.

Anyways my vote: 14" or 15" steelies (body color).
Redline dog dishes.

The car was undercoated so I used a heat gun and a scraper to remove it. Then alot of mineral spirits and elbow grease. The rusty/ hard to reach areas got sand blasted. I then primed the whole thing with Eastwood Black Rust Encapsulator, scuffed with red scotchbrite, and then painted with an enamel gray. The color of the car is F6 Green from the factory.
Good luck with yours!

That looks Great! Need more pics..........Furyus2
I finished the LCA's with a Dinatrol product. we use it in the aircraft industry for steel parts. It runs nice when brushed and drys gold and brownish red. Looks a little shiny, but should dull with use

Those LCAs look very similar to the cosmoline dipped arms. Very nice!

Beautiful work. Love!!!!!! the colour, you will see how much attention the F6 will get at the shows.

Tell us more about this stuff! Where do you find it? What's it called? how did you apply it? You know, the easy stuff. I recently saw another thread where the owner used clear urethane that was tinted and applied to run that also looked very realistic. Nice work :salute: L8r

It's called Dinitrol AV8 (sorry I spelled it wrong the first time) It is used by all of the major aircraft manufactures as a rust inhibitor. You can spray, brush, or dip parts. Here is a PDF file you can google. There is alot of info on line from car guys that love it. I didn't buy it I "aquired" a small amount from a former employer. It really goes a long way so you don't need much. I had the liquid form so I brushed along a tape line and just let it run. The heavy drips will remain sticky for a LONG time, so wipe them off if you prefer. They also have it in spray cans which would be nice.

* It is now called Ardrox AV8.

Nice attention to detail! I really am liking the use of the grey primer colored paint on the underside with the factory look overspray. And like I'm sure I said before - F6 is THE best looking color on a 69 Dart.

Thanks 1fine,
I did a search on it yesterday and found that the stuff originates from teh UK. I will have to do a little more research to see where it can be acquired here in the US. L8r

Just got my AVS carb back from All American Carburetor in Orlando, FL and it looks unbelievable! These guys can work miracles. This carb was a piece of crap and they made it look better than new! They get around $250.00 or more depending on how trashed it is. Mine was quite a bit more because it was super trashed! I highly recommend them for you guys doing restorations.
