...ordered some parts from Summit (I'm in Ontario) and requested my items shipped USPS because in Canada we are usually charged a substantial Brokerage fee for items shipped by courier across the border.
Summit assured me they were aware of these fees and that now they look after all duties and taxes, and there would be no additional fees when delivered.
Well Fed Ex was here today and all i got was my order and a smile!
Hope this helps if you didn't already know..

wow that is good news , I'm sure it's in the shipping cost but even the post office has started charging taxes and a handling fee for parts coming from the US , I just paid the HST and a 9 dollar handling fee for a tach from Charger Specialties last week. I was told by UPS that if the shipper sends it "expidited freight " you don't get charged on the receiving end but it is in the upfront shipping cost

I've ordered a ton of parts over the last 15 years. I stay away from UPS if at all possible. USPS is great because there is no expensive handling and duty fees but has limitations on sizes. A few vendors will not ship USPS though. Some vendors I believe have special deals with USPS/UPS/Fedex and can offer "all in" prices which is nice. I ordered tires from Tirerack and they offered this and even included GST which is great because I knew exactly what my total cost would be. I've never got a bill after the fact except from UPS!

Your right, brokerage fees are exsorbitant to say the least. I gave up on ordering from US companies, unless they were willing to ship to just within the US border so I can bring it across myself.

a friend just bought a set of wheels ( from Summit )and they were shipped to his door no extra fees.
Summit told me they were the only company that they know are doing this and they are trying to get other companies on board.
i was just charged shipping and handling at the time of my order.
if i receive any additional charges i will post them.

I noticed that on their website, Legendary Auto, and Rock auto is the same, all the broker fees are handled up front. One way to know this is if they charge HST, then their usually is no broker fees. Its about frickin' time!

for the past year or so anything coming in by USPS from a business has had HST and a handling fee attached by Canada Post , private shipments can still slide through.

i tried to explain this from rock auto a few months back ... listening was an issue. Hst was paid for at time of checkout so no extra fees.

Summit racing and fed ex have been doing it this way for at least 2 years.... mind you within the last year they started to collect the hst on their end which helped out alot. Before you paid the hst at your door if using fed ex. UPS charges a brokerage fee for declaring the total of the package at customs and then collected the tax on top of their brokerage fee.

Postal has always charged the hst over a certain amount if shipped from a business. Most of the time the small packages are ignored, but on occasion some tax nazi gets a hold of the small items.

Either way these big companies are starting to realize that the canadians are buying stuff from them but second guess the items when shipping comes in to play. Hopefully more realize the lost revenue .... Then again we also forget to support our own country.

Hey if I can get it in Canada I do but we really need a dealership here to do what Roseville Motors is doing and start pushing restoration parts from the Performance Catalog , half the time I get the guy who can't be bothered to look it up and just lies and says it's N/A in Canada .

Just odered some 3 inch exhaust cutouts from a canadian company called Parts Pro, They have stores across Canada. Summit Price $90.00. There price $118.64. Summit charges $10 Picking fees plus shipping would have been $ 35.00. they were the same price, the only difference is I'll go pick them up on Friday. I'll have them in two days. So there is a Canadian company that compares in price, they are a performance shop. I een used summits part number.
