1) Is the V8 and S6 K-frame in early As identical? I'm 90% sure its Yes.
2) The early A uses 2 studs and 1 bolt (7/16") for the steering box. The later steering box mounts use 1/2". Every manual box I've seen has 1/2 mounting holes. Did the early A's use 7/16 thru holes in the stock manual boxes? or 1/2.
2a) If the early A steering boxes had 1/2 holes, did they use bushings to sleeve down from 1/2 to 7/16? or just let it be a sloppy fit?

3) off topic; I want to make a test stand using an Early A, a bent V8 K-frame; Anyone have a set of used V8 (273) complete engine mounts for cheap? shipping to NJ.

Thanks
Mike

Not sure what is cheap. I think I've got a set of 273 brackets with good useable rubber mounts. $70 shipped.

Yes, they are the same on the 64-66 A-Bodies.

The '62-6 A-body K-members all interchange regardless of engine size. You just need the correct motor mount brackets to swap engines. The only difference I've seen in the '62-6 K-members is the '65 and '66 have holes drilled for the optional front sway bar that came out that year.
The manual steering boxes for the '62-6 have smaller diameter mounting holes than the '67-72 and smaller mounting bolts to match. They'll still swap out as once they're bolted down, they're not going anywhere. Sometimes you have the ream out the holes on the early box to fit the later K-member. Some of the '62-6 boxes were built with bushings (usually the 6 cyl. cars) and some were needle bearing type. The needle bearing one is supposed to be heavier duty.
Thanks, Mark

I agree that they are the same and like said above the sway bar bolt holes are the difference in 65 and 66 compared to the older two years if I'm not mistaken.
