I am converting my points ignition to electronic and was wandering what people are running on the street. My 340 will be slightly warmer than stock with an RPM intake, AVS 650, mild cam, stock exhaust manifolds with dual exhaust and 3.23 gears. I have seen distributors like mechanical advance as well as other vacuum advance models. This car will be street driven on weekends.

Suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

All of the stock sb distributors have both mechanical and vacuum advance. Users preference. When i ran open headers at the track and such i pulled the vac advance because it'd pop and such on decel. I've yet to put it back on, i will likely put it back on with just a few degree's advance at cruise for a little better mileage

You want vacuum advance on the street. Hook it to the timed vacuum port, like Mopar did at the factory. NO loss in horsepower, big gains in MPG, some gain in part throttle response.

If thats all you lost, I'd look intop the cars timing. I lost 4 mpg's.

Rocket;

The distributors have a certain amount of mechanical advance in them. The vacuum provides more. You'll need to sit down and read about it and work on it yourself for best results.

MP has a great distributor.
