Well, it’s been 5 long years since this car had moved under its own power, and even back then didn’t make it a couple hundred feet. When I got it, it had a 71 318 out of a Dart, which a former owner informed me was put in by a shop he took it to. There they removed the original commando motor, claimed it to be “no good”, and supposedly scrapped it. Of course, they obviously didn’t know about the converter register mismatch and wallered out the front pump of the original trans in short order. All that’s fixed now, I put the commando motor and trans in it from my 66 Cuda, so it’s all correct again, after probably close to 20 years off the road. Took it out for its maiden voyage today, runs nice, shifts clean, and other than a brake adjustment, I think it’s ready for action. Just in time too, winter is looming large here in the Mitten, but it’s supposed to be in the 60’s this week, I’m gonna try to put a few miles on it, then try to find it a new home. It’s a cool little car, kinda hate to see it go, but it needs a new home and somebody to love it.

Winters coming! Nice Valiant, well done with the Commando motor! 65'

the motor and trans have very little miles on them, and both pieces are 66 vintage, perfectly correct for this little car. They should see many happy miles together.

Nice car Geoff, back in 1976 driving my Barracuda I’d see a Valiant optioned like yours. The guy always took good care of it. Then it disappeared. Fast forward to Iola’s’ A Gathering Of Chrysler’s’. Don’t remember what yr, but there it was with Michigan plates but not for sale. It wore light bluish/ purple paint. Never saw it again.

This car was an executives car, and is originally registered to the company, Safeway Steel and Scaffolding in Georgia. I assume the boss ordered it up this way, I know I would’ve if I had the company check book. The original owners manual is in the glovebox, but the corner where the warranty card info is has been chewed up, so you can only read a little bit. I’ve been piecing together it’s history as best I could, called a couple from Georgia that owned it for awhile, who had the motor replaced, but that’s about as far back as I was able to go.

Wow! What a nice Valiant. How's the 273 sound with the top down? I bet awesome!

it purrs right along, but it really needs the Accurate Exhaust commando kit, that would really wake it up! It’s got a small pipe exhaust shop setup on it, with an old Murray’s chrome tip. No very threatening to be sure.

That is one gorgeous little car. I'm sure you should be able to sell that, well maybe wait for spring if you can store it inside.

How many miles on the car? Looks great

it stays inside all the time, I have 3 barns to store my cars, all of them full of course. Time for the Curly shuffle to bring something else into the shop. Always something to do.

If I hadn't already bought it's twin sister recently, I would have been a player on it. Looks like a nice piece.

Nice job. So can I rent that space in your garage once you sell it?
:poke:
