My '74 318 has a PCV valve. It also has a breather on the valve cover that also serves as the oil cap. If I change valve covers, I shouldn't have to use a breather since it has the PCV should I? Just trying to figure out what the previous owner was doing. They just had the breather stuck in the filler hole in place of a cap.

Thanks...................

You want to run a PCV on one side and a breather on the other. At moderate engine speeds the vapors will be sucked out by the PCV and air will be pulled in at the breather. This will remove vapors and moisture from the crank case which is a good thing.

Here you go: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=29834&highlight=under+hood

There is a bunch of under hood pictures and you can see what different ways of hooking up PVC and different options you might want to go. Notice the ones with the tubes on both valve covers running toward the back of the car... those are drag race only type.... the tubes are connected to the headers which creates a suction.

This one is hooked to the bottom of the air cleaner.
