I just picked up a 69 barracuda and as far as I know it has a 318 around 76 77 truck motor so I've been told. I changed the valve seals and thought it would be a good idea to put in the old springs (tested) out of my 360 that i am building.
I flashed the car and have clacky valves. So upon some investigation read that the in/ext are slightly diff. Two springs under the booster I could not get to, so as a ref. the ext spring seems taller, so I replaced the old springs with ext taller and flashed her up . Still have valve train noise. The motor has ran a total of 10 15 sec since the swap. Does anyone have any info on spring height in/ext or know what has happened any info will help

Does it have rotators on the exh. valves? If so they may be different height. I haven't worked on any Mopars with rotators but I know they used them in trucks. Generally if they don't have rotators they are the same height. Usually around 1.68" installed height I believe. Do you have a way to check the installed height?

Also if your 360 springs are much heavier and the lifters are weak in the 318 that could possibly cause them to bleed down when it's shut off. 10-15 seconds isn't running long enough to pump the lifters back up if their weak and bled down. Try running it for about a minute and see what happens. It may quiet down.
