It's about that time to assemble my first rebuild soon. I'm about to order Clevite Engine Assembly Lube along with Comp Cams Break-In Additive and was wondering is there anything special needed for rocker arms, push rods distributor gear, and springs. I know Comp Cams offer an assembly spray. Is it recommended or could I just dip the components in oil and pour oil over the valve springs?

Use some assembly lube on the cam bearing surfaces and lobes, lifters. You can "prime" the oil system before start up.

Thanks. I have the Comp Cams Cam & Lifter Lube already. I do plan on priming the oil pump before initial start up... I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I like to put some lube on the tip of the push rod that meets the rocker and a tad on the rocker tip that hits the valve stem and so forth I also prime too.

Don't forget to rotate the crank while spinning the oil pump with a drill...its the only way to make sure you have oil up to the rockers. I suggest doing this till you see oil pouring out of both banks of rockers.
