Thank you all for your service. We couldn't enjoy our freedoms if it weren't for your sacrifices. Here's a little story about my Dad (stepdad) That was in the Navy in the 50's. RIP Dad. I wish you were around to tell more stories.


This is Dad's story. The ship Dad served on was the USS Edmonds a Destroyer Escort. He was a Gunners Mate and operated a 6" gun. He was in for 6 years and toured many places in the world eventually ending up in Pearl Harbor for his last 2 years. He travelled across the equator a couple times and spent a lot of time in the Orient. I remember him talking about going to India. Bremerton, Washington comes to mind as well.

My grandfather served 3 years overseas in WWII, unfortunately he never spoke of his experiences with us, so I don't know anything about his time there.
