Vinyl top prep

Now that I have the top sanded down to bare metal what are all of you putting on it
prior to vinyl top installation? Is primer good enough?

I would epoxy prime it then cover in paint to prevent rust.

Primer is porous- made so the top coat sticks to it.

The factory didn't paint under the vinyl...and look how that turned out.
