Ran across a guy with a set of new W-2's that are assembled complete with double valve springs. He is throwing in a set of adjustable rockers too. They haven't been ported or cut in any way. Said he wants $675. If they're still in decent shape, I'll think I'll buy them even though I don't own a smallblock now, but have been thinking about building one. Does this seem like an ok deal? Haven't been into small blocks for many, many years.

My first reaction is that it sounds like a pretty good deal. I think you want to get a part/casting # for them and see which ones they are and when they were mnfr'd. There were/are several different W2 setups (Econos, Basics, Race, etc.) some of them having traditional rocker arm stands and some without meaning that special blocks, shafts, etc, must be used. They also came with several different sized chambers and that might be a factor as well. Re: the adj. rocker arms. Just make sure that it is a W2 specific setup. Remember, W2s have offset intake rockers and rocker arm assemblies are not cheap. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Get'em! I may call you for them after the new year. He he he

Talk about bad descriptions. go to look at the heads and there's no springs or retainers on them. Guy goes "I guess i lost them". Also forgot to say they were used not new "they were new when i bought them". Also had 1 bad valve guide. Wouldn't come down in price so I had to pass. Oh well.

Dusterdon, it was lucky that you were close enough to check them out in person. This sounds like the type of deal that might piss off an out-of-state/area buyer. As they say ... CAVEAT EMPTOR!
