Ok, this build is still a long ways off, but I have a set of W7 heads that I need to drill the pushrod holes in. I did a google search, but cannot find any info on the locations and angles for the holes. I basically need a starting point. Heads will be going on a tall deck block.
Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

Love it or hate it there is a lot of good tech info there. All the tracks I race at post updates there first and I’ve found and bought some parts at great prices.

My son's have bought some stuff off it. My wife has sold stuff for me, so yeah it can be useful. I just personally don't have or want an account.

Brett Miller or Kent Ritter of you can get him on the phone. I have a brand new W7 casting in the shop. You don't need a spare???

May try to call Kent. Talked to him at the Indy show last March. Turns out he and I have worked at the same electric power plant (12 miles from my house) on some of the same outages. I bought a couple of things from him. Super nice guy.

He is VERY cool. And sharp. He held the national record back in 93 or 94 IIRC in a Daytona. I forget the class, but I'm pretty sure it was with W7 heads.

From our phone calls he was the lead on developing the 7 head. It basically started with the 5 casting and then developed from there.

IIRC his record was 7.77 at 167 and I *THINK* that was in C Econo Altered trim.

If you get the chance, ask him. I could be wrong.

OK. I'll do that. I'd rather see it go to a FABO member than some dude I don't know.
Hey, it wouldn't happen to have the pushrod holes drilled would it?
I know you said it needs seats and guides etc. Mine are 15 degree heads.

Michael Beard, my son, myself, and a few other guys were sitting around a campfire sipping a few adult beverages after Racing one night at keystone and this one guy was trying to talk me into building a small block for my heads up car. Being I already had a Keith Black block, B1 heads, and crank I was locked into building a big block. I said if the Ritter blocks were trustworthy (now remember this was over five years ago) I would consider it. We talked about the issues then he let the cat out of the bag that he was the engineer on that project with Kent and although they had issues their biggest mistake was working with the wrong person track testing

That's interesting. How long ago was that?

I'll run out and look at it. Been so long since I've had my eyes on it I can't say.

BRB.

Edit: no holes...but I'm not sure I'd drill holes for the pushrods. I think if lying get them in a mill and get everything square to the world I'd start .187ish from the edge of the port and mill a slot in there. I really need to take a closer look about doing it that way, but I didn't have the heat on out there and it's colder than a witches thorax in the shop.

I know it was over or close to 5 years ago. He gave me a price on a block the next day. I had my blue car around five years so that’s what I’m going by. I don’t want to name drop or I would post his name.

Yeah, don't name drop. That's a crime against humanity. No way in hell could you possibly run into someone who had a hand in the development of the Ritter block. You'd just be bullshitting everyone. That could never happen.

Did my sarcasm ring through? I never knew it was a mortal sin to say you know someone. Must be the younger generation who don't know anyone it pisses off.

Some guys weren’t happy about the whole deal. I’m glad someone has the balls and guts to produce Mopar stuff.

Yeah, I said drill, but was thinking bridgeport.

When I was talking to Kent he asked where I was from, and I told him "About an hour and a half southwest of Indy" He asked if I was close to the Merom power plant. I said "yeah, about 12 miles" He told me he had worked outages there and what years, and I told him I was there at the same time. We talked a good bit. I bought a few parts and asked about some others. I paid him for everything and gave him my address so he could ship the stuff he did not have there. When I got them he included a very nice note with his phone # and said he would look for me the next time he worked at Merom.

Mopar Sam,
I may be able to help you with your W7’s. I tried to send you a PM but was not able to. Send me a PM and I will see if I am able to help.

Sam, could you keep us updated on that W7 project?
I’d love to see what’s what with that head.
