i really need a block in the orange county area, la maybe even san deigo. it needs to be able to be bored to .060 over.

story is machine shop didnt want to bore .080 over, honed out what they could, and insured me it would be fine. so i built the motor, bought the pistons blah blah, its basicly ready to go, then looking over pictures i took during the process, i figured id ask a few people, and they said the bore was no good. it wasnt completely honed where the rings would sit at TDC.

id perfer to get a block to make sure is good at .060, and just swap parts over real quick, thanks!

Why? Your block will probably go safely .125" over.

Because I have .060s already, and they are pressed on the rods, I would have to re spend the money and new rings and pistons.... Plus labor to get them pressed on and off. It would be cheaper, easier and quicker to machine a new block to .060, set both motors side by side on stands, and swap everything over. I will only be eating the price of the cam bearings I had installed, freeze plugs, and paint. Compare that to new pistons, new rings, labor, and maybe make some money back on parts.. if I can find a buyer. I still am going to have to eat a whole gasket set either way...

gotcha...

It's my fault for not paying more attention. I have just been so busy with this car, my other car, moving, doing a renovation on my grandmothers home, and work. I just over saw the whole thing.... But thanks dustercrazy I would have really appreciated that, in fact I still do.

Im in Eugene ore what would it take to ship one of those, I have a 66 block and it is a stock bore.

I already answered on your want ad request. I'm not too far away from you if you can't find one closer or cheaper.
Thanks, Mark
