I still have the cast iron water pump housing. I'd like to switch it out to aluminum.

Who's housing do you feel is the best?

Also, should I swap out the pump while I have it apart?

Depends upon the age of the pump in question. If it's old and cast iron, I would replace it also with aluminum.

mopar performance ONLY! DO NOT GO WITH 440 SOURCE. buck up the extra coin and get the mopar unit. they are a better casting. the 440 source unit has restrictive casting.

Better make sure what your doing. The cast iron pump is for up to 69. The lower hose is on the driver's side. Aluminum pump is passenger side. I think you need to change the timing cover and balancer to the later style. AFAIK, there are 2 different aluminum pumps. Standard, and police. Standard has holes around the WP shaft .They are known for breaking. The police style doesn't have that, and has a larger shaft to keep from breaking.

Thanks, I bought the P4286900.

My engine is 67 HP 440 engine. The lower hose is on the drivers side.

Unless I'm looking at something wrong. The MPP waterpump is no different.

"These aluminum housings simply replace the stock cast iron housing. They include the appropriate accessory bosses for both early and late model engines."

P4286899 has driver side in.

On the 440 source housings, I thought they "fixed" that restriction issue??

I can't find that part number anywhere.

P4286900 shows lower hose on drivers side.

"P4286900 shows lower hose on drivers side."

It is that's what I have on mine.

I was assuming you were referring to a small block, since no engine was specified. Oh well......

This thread is posted in BIG BLOCK A BODY TECH! Why would I be talking about a small block water pump?

Heater hose nipple sizes on this one 1/2" and 5/8" hose. Maybe the P4286900 both 5/8"??

O:)Lol, ya' just found it!.......................

Thought maybe they had a flow issue or something. Weight on a street cruiser .I get the looks issue I will upgrade my iron when the need raises

Weight on a street cruiser, occasional strip. Yes.

Agreed, I'm only changing this because I'm pulling the radiator and re-doing my cooling system.

Is there anything wrong with the Mancini Racing version? Just curious since it's about half the price...I don't mind dropping the money for a MP version, but if Mancini's doesn't have any bad press...maybe...

I got rid of the water pump housing completely and went with a remote pump. That frees up a lot of room in front of the engine for a larger electric fan.

I got the 440 Source when they came out sitting on the shelf. Never put together my 500 incher. Guess I'll throw it in the scrap.
