Nougat (like the whipped caramel in candy bars)
Also known by Buff, Punk, and Trouble.

He was 10, almost exactly.

Did not see him Monday at breakfast, or for dinner.
Found him in the garage not wanting to move and breathing hard and shallow.

Took him to the emergency Vet at 10:00pm.
An hour and a half later they said his blood sugar was over 500.
Also a mildly enlarged heart and some fluid in his lungs.

Options were $2500 oxygen tent over night and no guarantees.
Then rush to daytime ER Vet and keep spending with no guarantees.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not at least trying to care for a diabetic cat.
..but I don't think he would have done well being handled and poked multiple time s every day.

It was quite a shock, as the day before he was up in my face sharing some salmon and white cheddar.
He had interesting tastes in food. All in all, quite the character.
Multi-syllable words (but never "meow"), piercing gaze, survived being shot....
25 pounds of whoop-*** in a 12 pound cat.

We still have his brother, Buddy in our crew. Totally different "personality".

I sure do miss you, Buff.

Awwww, sorry for your loss.

Man I sure am sorry. I know he was slam a part of the family. You have our condolences.

So sorry to hear. Beautiful kitty.

Yep.

He was "man cat pretty".

Plush, luxurious fur, too.
Felt like super expensive carpet. The kind your toes sink into and get lost.

He did have several other nicknames.

I often addressed him as "Blondie" from The Good The Bad and The Ugly.
"Ju want some salmon, eh Blondie"?

"Colonel Mustard" was another.
Colonel Mustard did it, in the living room, with a cat claw.

So sorry for your loss. I have four indoor cats, two I brought in from outside and two of my sons that he brought with him when he moved back in. Like you know they can make our hearts feel so good, or in times like this so bad.

Yes, they are.

The house is much different without that guy and his attitude around.

The kitten picture with him looking directly at the camera was him in a nutshell.

We had a Birman mix cat named Rocky from 1985 to 1993.
(looks like a Siamese but long hair)

Almost hit him driving my 66 Coronet in heavy rain in an unfamiliar neighborhood.

Tiny kitten in the middle of the road.

I stopped to make sure I hadn't, and he jumped in the car.

He turned out to be Mom's cat though.

I had to have him put down due to kidney disease.

Sorry for your loss. Its never easy. A friend lost his wife 3 months ago, and his dog passed about a month ago. he shared this with me. I think it applies to all of our furbabies.
