We took the 71 Dart out for the weekend points race at LVMS,
Saturday,
she makes 3 passes...11.063, 11.046 and 11.046,,,and the way back down the return road, she shuts engine off to coast down the return road to allow engine to cool..
goes to refire by the grandstands...the starter decides to take the weekend off...
After getting towed back to the pits, I confirm yes the stater died...off it comes, I head for the nearest part store, Tonya call me and says they are calling the cars to the lane for 1st round of so we are not going to make it. So i head for home since i have a spare in the garage, I also needed to get lug nuts for new rear rims and tires that I had forgot earlier in the day...
Change starter...in dark, and refire engine, then we change the rear tires out...taking a set of Hoosier 10 x 29 off...putting new MT 10.5 x 29.5 on with more offset on the rim to the inside were there is alot more room.
Come out Sunday morning for next race, I begin to set air pressure in new tires..and I see that on the passenger side the leading edge of wheel wheel is pretty dam close to new slick. We try to do some minor bending but...we decide to run car...
Car goes 11.11 @ 118+...with a nice trail of smoke from half track on....the track crew goes down the track to check it out...I told the starter it was tire smoke...
Well..back to the pits and we change back the Hoosier tires...(no air guns just muscle)...
Make the next round...the car likes the Hoosier and runs 10.996 @ 119.97...and then last pass is 11.02 @ 119+....
First round...dial 11.02...she cuts a .028 ...runs 11.06...the other guy had red lighted..
round two..dial 11.06 as the day is getting hotter....runs 11.07...she miss judges the other car and back out as the other guy gets the stripe and wins....
I am exhausted..........
