Welding gas,??

Hey guys just picked up a mig welder but ha no tank wats the best gas to run ? Argon ?this is for panels and roll cage stuff like that . Just not sure on the wat tank I should get?
 
I don't mess with roll cages, and most of my work is pretty non critical. I simply use straight CO2
 
You'll see an 80/20 CO2 Argon mix too. Just go to your welding supplier and buy (lease) a medium sized cylinder of gas. After you use that one it's on exchange for about $50. It'll last you quite awhile - as long as you remember to close the bottle valve when you're not using it :)
 
Thanks is that 75/25 argon & oxygen ? Correct. It's been a while sinceI've used a quality gas welder tryna get some knowledge back.
 
yeh. ..... heh..... O2 (oxygen) coming out of a mig gun might not be "your best day"
 
75%argon-25%CO2. thats for mild and carbon steel. for stainless and aluminum its 100% argon
The CO2 cools down the arc a little.
