Thanks, Dave! Do you know if they are these off of this engine? I'm just wondering the other stuff inside this 360, if the heads are of another vintage.
They are the same basic head as the 915 "J" casting with the exception of the air injector ports. Tap some threads, put in some sealer and 1/4" pipe plugs, and you have a set of "J" heads.
If they have a little hole below the exhaust port, that is air injection, and there will be a hump in the bottom of your exhaust port as a result of this feature. I also have this casting. And, I'm gonna make em flow!!
Be sure to grind out the hump in the port floor. That is for heads with the air injection holes. You can completely remove it, right down to the floor level..BUT no further. Good luck, Terry.
I was checking out a set of those 596 heads also and did a casting search on autohobbydigest and they indicated these heads were for a 318 engine with a (cast-in 360) indicated. Do they have 318 or 360 sized ports? Mike
Thanks Adam. If anyone is looking for a pair that are not done up, theres a pair on Ebay that guy told he he would sell for $60. He's in Westport, Mass..
