I am currently running a Hayes Street Strip Clutch in my 69 barracuda. It is a fairly stout 340 (375-400 hp) with 3.91s. This clutch has served me well and has been abused quite frequently without failure, but I am going to have the motor out soon and was wondering what else was out there..... The only thing I don't like about this clutch is the pedal pressure. Man is that thing a bear! Is there anything out there that will take abuse with less leg strain? BTW, I am planning in the future to replace the 340 with a really healthy 408 and would like to use the same set-up....... Thanks,
I am using a Centerforce DF. So far it has held up to 3500 drops and 6500 powershifts. The pedal is nice and easy too. It does'nt slip very good for hole shots. It grabs.
I'm using the centerforce DF also! I have a pretty stought 416 and the pic below kind of gives you an idea.
what kind of money does a centerforce DF go for?? i have a friend with a 383 chally looking for a good clutch..
I am using Centerforce Dual Friction behind a 572 Hemi and have had no slippage but I am running drag radials
i`m using a mcleod street twin. i like it a lot. if centerforce made a 10.5" 18 spline i probably would have used that.
FYI A little info from: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/323desc.htmCenterforce Dual Friction clutch. With two different compounds on the disk, and a stiffer pressure plate with centrifugal weights, the Dual Friction clutch provides up to 90% additional clamping force. $350 $$$ estimate YMMV
I am running a ram power grip setup behind a 1968 Form S 340, bigtime ported t/a headed, 11to1 motor, hughes solid cam with 4;56 gears and m/t indy profile s/s g60-14's. I broke one of the pins that the arm pivots on after 500 miles. sent it back to ram and they fixed it no prob. they said the throwout bearing throw was to far. so we will try it again. car actually moves forward as you take off with the sticky mickeys. I am kinda glad it doesn't hook real well. ( broken parts)
Hi I run a McLeod Street Twin in the back of 340, 5 speed, 3.91 good grab, take the abuse, no slip and I'm happy. Robert
