What color should I paint my 66 dart?

Originally, I was going to go with a satin (hot rod) black type color. But now I'm thinking shiny silver with black interior would be nice since I'm no pro at body work.

Does anyone have any silver early A's they don't mind showing off?

Here's mine. I'll get one of the whole car this weekend.

I found this picture online. This is what made me want to go with satin black. I think it looks really sharp on a street/strip car like the one I'm building. But what color would I paint the interior surfaces? satin black, or gloss black?

Here's a 66 GT I restored a few years ago. It is a factory A4 silver. It looks silver in some light situations, but mostly it looks green.

I guess it depends on what you are after. Alot of these cars in the early to mid sixities were white with black interiors, that's what mine is. Turqouis, and various shades of metallic green - silver - gold, and red seem to have been pretty popular as well.

If your body work is not super slick - stay away from gloss black, it'll show every defect. On the other end of the spectrum white shows the least amount of defects of any color. If you paint in a flat color then it matters much less what color you use. Its the glossy surfaces that show up body work in darker colors.

Thanks for the replys guys. That greenish/silver car looks real nice.

I'm confident enough in my bodywork ability to go with a black finish. I'm just curious what you guys think would look better on a 66 Dart. Keep in mind the car has a 12 pt cage. I'm beginning to think silver may look real nice and that flat black with black interior might be a little too much black.

I'm still unsure on what hood scoop to run. At this point I'm thinking either a 6-pack or max wedge scoop.

Oh yeah, the rims are weld draglites.

Anybody have any other opinions on what color would look nice on a 66 Dart GT hotrod?

what about flat black or gloss black with a blk dash cap and red dash with red interior. old hotrod look.

Here's a chip chart. Mine is ZZ1 gold poly allthough very faded. I like the primer look. toolman

Black is hot at the track. That silver-green is cool and different.I think it would look real nice on your HotRod(big tires, cage)Different is always COOL!!! 2cents
