I just picked up 1993 dodge dakota ex-cab V-8 vin # 1B7GL23YPS204050 Can anybody tell me what motor it is 318/360 any help would be great..its one of those goofy mark III with the flares and wood interior trim and factory alum wheels ...runs and drives great not much to look at ..paid 400..cheap

i would say it was a 318 just by looking at the year. i dont believe they even put a 360 in the dakota from the factory, unless of course sombody else put a 360 in it

Thanks, that what i was thinking..but a guy i know said maybe it was a 360..whatever can't bet the price

I don't think they put the 5.9/360 until the next body style in the dakotas but I could be wrong. The 318 and 360 magnums differ very little by looks. I forgot all the ways to tell the difference but under the left head you should be able to see a stamping on the block that shows numbers and either 318 or 360 along with a few other digits... I think there is also a difference in balancer thickness but can't remember.

Yep, 318. The 360 did not go in the Dakota until 1997.

Although my brother has a 92 Dakota X-cab that has a 360 for a 98 Durango in it. Talk about big power in a light weight truck. It is still a work in progress. He has a Duster but it is being parted out because the body has seen better days. That is why he has the A body scoop on it, he always wanted one for the Duster.

This is/was a cool little truck when new ..its get a power rear window.and a super cool (not for me) wood overhead lighted console..i'm thinking about selling it?? thinking someone can use the motor and tranny in a project..anyone interested??

Here is my Dakota but I had to pay 500 dollars for it.:toothy7:
Yours sounds like a great buy too.
Mine is a LA 318 and it is the fastest truck at the shop.
But mine is the only dodge so that can be expected.:toothy7:
Do like me and drive it every day and no payments.
Mine shows 254000 miles know.

I could not believe how quick this little truck is.
