Bought this 66 Dart in the summer to use for parts for my 65..needs floors and I have no idea how much filler is in the body. I was going to take the inner fenders(65's were butchered for headers), interior(the 65 was complete but shot), and motor/trans(65 doesn't have one), and the trans tunnel mostly for the console mounts(somebody took a hammer to the front of the tunnel in the 65 for a 727. I've already sold the hood. Do I keep whats left as a future project and buy the parts I need for the 5 or do I go ahead and take the parts I need and sell whats left.
thanks for the input..

Dave

I would never, ever use a convertible for a parts car for a hardtop. You will be money ahead to save that thing.

agreed the conv. will be more valuable in the long run.

I'm sorry, I failed to mention the 65 is also a vert. I have it on a rotissere and down to metal ready for body work. It was also complete when I got it. I have the doors for the 66 too.

Keep it, keep it, keep it,

That's the way I've been leaning. There aren't many parts I need that I don't have. The front inner fender is the biggest.Found a wrecked hardtop 65 that I've been trying to buy but the fella would rather pay the $35 monthly storage (for the last three years) and let the rats munch on everything than part with it yet. So it looks like I'll need to replace the hood I sold. Part of the top rail is broken but I have seen the top frame on e-bay.
thanks guys.

Hey Grinly do you ever go down to Pyle's junkyard in Mt. Pleasant Mills?
There's a Dart there about the same year as yours,it's up behind the barn.
I took this pic. of it about 2 years ago.

Kevin, I did some work for Larry Pyle this year, if you haven't been by in that long you ought to take a ride by. DEP came in just about two years ago now and made them empty the place out. He didn't keep very much and out of what he did keep there are no old Mopar. I wouldn't be surprised if Wolfie got anything that was any good at the time, but there all gone now. i picked up a rear hatch for my wifes 86 Mustang GT and he wasn't sure if he had anything that old. It's a totally different place, the old cars you can count on one hand. One is an old coupe they put on top of a trailer as a tribute to Lester, he's got a 58 Chevy pickup I sold him in 2006 that needs resto, and one or two more.

I heard that they were cleaning the yard out but i haven't been there in a long time.
The last time i was there was about a month or 2 before Lester died.
I got ALOT of parts out there over the years, there were still quite a few big-blocks there yet.
Instead of making the left to go to Pyles make the right and go about a half mile there's a place on the rightside the guy has a bunch of Mopars mostly A-bodies.
I stopped there a few times but he wouldn't sell any of them, the only thing he was willing to sell was a totaled 67 Coronet.

Wolfie's nuts!
Most of the cars he gets are junk and he still wants top dollar for them,i was at his place a couple times to see what he had,i'll never buy anything off of him.

i haven't been out to the right in alot of years, I know who you mean to the right, pretty sure his name is randy, can't remember the last name right off, but I heard he has a ton of stuff, not just what you see sitting their but in those sheds...big blocks, small blocks, 6 pcks, 4 speeds and the list goes on. He's been pilin' that stuff up there since the seventy's. He's also got a place down on 11 just south of selinsgrove on the right, an old mobil station I believe. There's a least 2 Dusters sitting there plus a bunch of stuff covered up. And your right he won't part with a hubcap.
Lester was a hell of a guy, got many parts off him and Larry over the years. When Larry was cleaning out there were guys from out of the area hangin' out to see what he pulled out of the weeds and they bought a bunch. Larry said he was dragging what was left of a 40 Ford PU out of the trees and the one fella asked what he wanted for it and Larry said he didn't know maye two and a half ($250) and the guy missed understood and wrote him a check for $2500.
Wolfie is high and I've never bought from him but it seems he moves alot of parts. He's another guy that got building full of parts. Last time I was there he showed me inside the big shed, it was packed full of cars, to the point he had a 55 Chevy vert body hanging on a side wall, among alot of nice Mopars...Cuda's, Road Runners, challengers, all in pristine shape, sosme of the junk he moves though surprises me.

Definately should keep the car, or find someone who can rebuild it....My brother has a 66 Gt with a 69 340 auto in it...long term project...you know how it goes...

I'd love to get it from you but I have so many projects

good luck with the 65!

Last time i was there i was in the barn and found 2 wire spoke wheels off a Model-A,i painted up and have them hanging on my garage wall.
My brother bought a 59 Fury off of him a couple years ago it sat behind the house under a roof, last time it was licensed was '76,would you believe it started and ran quite well the fuel pump was bad we had to keep dumping gas in the carb to keep it running.
He had 2 58 Fury 2-door wagons i would have loved to have but they were really rotted like most of the stuff he had.
I have a bunch of pics. i took of the yard the las time i was down i had planned on getting more but unfortunately never got back,i'm gonna miss that place!

Larry knows I would be interested in any mopars he drags in, so if anything comes about I'll let you know. that other fellas name I couldn't remember is Parker.

Most of the cars in there are rotted beyond repair, one interesting one he has or had was a 68 Coronet 500 convertible with factory A/C!
It was pushed down over the bank up by where the newer cars are.

This is what it looked like, the other side was buried right up to the top of the qtr. in mud.
