I have a Dart body, that i belive is a -73. I found teh "hidden vin" under the trunk seal and it says

4
8 (or 9 or maby some letter?)
5
E
3 (or maby 8 )
6
2

Witch part of the vin is this? Here in sweden we have the "principle of public" witch means that everything is open to the public to know. So if i knew witch part of the vin this is i can track it at our "DMV" and find out whos the registerd owner, and/or if its stolen or maby ist been "scraped" at some point.

Thanks!

The hidden VIN numbers on A-body cars are on the radiator support, and on the package shelf. Unless export cars are different, there are no VIN numbers on the trunk lip. Take your back seat out, and remove the package shelf board and insulation. Somewhere on the metal package shelf, the last 8 digits of the cars VIN will be stamped. The first 2 characters will be inverted. For instance, the VIN on a 70 Duster 340 would be VS29HOB123456. The number you should find stamped on it's pacakge shelf would be BO123456. Look at the last 8 numbers on the VIN tag on the dash to be sure which numbers you are looking for elsewhere. Good luck.

Funny my 69 fastback has the VIN on the upper portion of the trunk rail under the seal and it also has a hidden vin underneath the car .

Ok, in other treads about this subject, it stated that the number under the weatherstrip is a part of the vin.

Cannucky; were did you find the vin under the car?

Its under the under coating but if you google hidden vin on mopar a bodys you should be able to find it

Dusters have the hidden vin on the package tray, Darts have the vin on the trunk seal rail.
Duster-Sweden are these numbers stamped into the sheetmetal or are they raised?

my 68 valiant hidden vins are on the radiator support and the trunk seal rail. The numbers are actually the shipping order number that matches the fender tag and build sheet and not the actual vin.

I couldn't find a VIN # on the trunk rail on my Demon, but it is on the package tray (driver side near the speaker hole)

Daliant: they are raised

I dont have the fendertag or buildsheat, the radiator suport has been cut of, this body is probably an old race car.

some panels have generic numbers stamped in them, possibly a stock locator number.
Your VIN in the dash should match the hidden VIN if 68 and up. I would look under the package shelf also for a vin that late (73)
Prior to 68 it was an order number that should match the fender tag.
it might read like 72C02123456 72= Hamtramck C = December 02 = the 2 day of and the last are the VON (Vehicle Order Number).

My 68 valiant has the order number on the core and trunk rail. ill need to look at the build date on the build sheet to see how early of a car it is. Both my 69's have the vin on the trunk and core.

If the car was built in Canada you might find the vin stamped into the passenger side inner fender where the fender bolts to it.
