What is it and what's it used for?

I tried it by connecting to the compressor, then plugged in AC it blows out hot air like a paint stripper. The warning reads: TO START-Turn on air before turning on electricity. TO STOP-Turn off electricity and allow air to run until torch is cold.

it looks like a plastic repair tool that I used to use to reheat and remove creased bumper facia with. it's also a killer looking plastic welder too if you can find the correct plastic rods that go with it. does it have an adjustment on it for different heat settings? yeah air first ir the coils will burn up.
it looks similar to this one on ebay
Adjustable Temperature Plastic Hot Air Welder Welding Kit Torch Former Bender

Nah, its a hot-air reflow for PCB boards. No, its a plastic welder.

It is a heat gun tool. I used a similar model called a ht-900. You can actually solder with it. Used in areas with explosive fumes. I am sure you can plastic weld with it also. The amount of heat is adjusted by the air flow. Slower hotter faster cooler. Great find. Start the air flow first before power and kepp the air flow on after you take the power off or the heating element will burn out and they are not cheap. Great score!

It's a plastic welder (again).

I have one. Welded so many sportbike fairings back together, now I can tell if they are cracked just by holding them in my hands. I've never done any bumper covers.

It's fun to do, but you have to balance because the heat level is rooted in the airflow. changing one changes the other but you might need more heat and more pressure sometimes. I need to put it on a foot pedal electric control.
