Curious on Octane, setup, et blah blah
I have a 12.5:1 440 with six pack rods, stock crank ootb Indy EZ heads. Run
Low 10's and have experimented with 110, 112, and 118 rockett brand.
Haven't seen really much change in et, but never a direct back to back comparison. 118 seems to sound crisper. Bouncing around the idea of trying a q16 for the heck of it.
What are you guys running? Thanks.

You only need the fuel grade that prevents detonation. Any more than that gives you absolutely nothing in return. 110 should do that.

I run 1/2 tank of super and 1/2 tank of 110. My compression is just a touch under 12:1.

SLANT SIX
10:1
91 pump for street use and 100 for the track
running 14.7's @ 94 on street tires (lost o slip)

Exactly! Your just wasting your money paying for higher octane than you need.

My small block is running 13:1 cr on a street motor ,I can get away with 91 pump gas and Sunoco 260 110 mixed around 50/50 . But alot of the time I just run the 110 undiluted with a bump on the timing of a couple of degrees. The ethanol in the pump gas seems to help when driving on the street.

I run a 72 340 with 10:5 to 1's on 87 octane ran awesome till the new gas with ethanol came around...the afb would not restart when hot....hold her to the floor until it started.....switched to holley and 2" spacer changed timing......awesome only had spark knock after sitting in traffic till it was runnin 205 with the boat hooked to the back of it.....was 100* plus that day

10.8:1 aluminum head 410 stroker, I mix 93 and 110 octane 4:1.

I've been mixing 111 with 93 at a 50/50ish mix in my 12.5 to 1 compression crossramed hemi on the street for the octain and for the lead, works great . Not sure how low I could get away with though, I've been told hemis can run on less octain because of the chamber design.

Little over 12:1 here running in low 10's in 1/4. Love that e-85.

I wish we had that E-85 around here.
I have done some research on it and there is alot of people that are really happy with it.
Maybe this Ethanol thing has a good side to it.

The e-85 is interesting, especially cost savings. Do they run cooler with e-85? Thanks.
Good input thus far also. Thanks!

I was wondering the E85 also, they stat it has higher octane. I was thnking of trying it. l would like to hear more also from those running.

Street Dart 340 with 11 to 1 ratio. 2 gallons 110 added to 5 gallons 91 pump prem
Race Dart 414 stroker 110 Sunoco straight 12 to 1
I'm curious about E-85 myself. I have it available 30 miles away.

E85 works good if you make all the necessary changes to the fuel system, jet it properly, and buy a E85 tester to monitor what your getting.
