I’m doing a 360 magnum swap and planning on keeping the stock magnum efi, timing cover, etc. what oil pan do I need. Most articles say any la 360, but on the swap speed website their oil pan says must use an la timing cover. Is this true with all la 360 oil pans?

Use any appropriate 360 LA pan, pickup tube, and dipstick. For a gasket, use the LA set or a modified magnum 1 piece.
No idea what they're talking about on the swap speed website. Got a link?

Any chance you have a part numb

any chance you have a part number for the one piece oil pan gasket or know where I can get it? I’m not having any luck finding it.

Any LA 360 oil pan will work, but there is a catch. The LA pans have two notches on the bottom front of the pan where the timing cover meets the pan rail.

You can hammer them out flat with a dolly and use the one piece Magnum gasket with a touch of sealer there and in the corners. Or, leave the pan as is and use the 4 piece LA gasket set and silicone. I like Superformance gaskets.

I like Permatex Ultra Seal, but what ever you use, clean the parts with brake clean or lacquer thinner before applying it to remove the oil residue.

I can tell you if you use the one piece Magnum gasket and the LA oil pan without doing the above, you will have a big oil leak that is hard to see where it is coming from. because the gasket has flaps that cover the opening from the notches.

But note that I said a MODIFIED one-piece, you'll still need an LA front pan seal or a chitload of rtv to make it work, or just use the stock LA pan set.

Oil pan question
to list a few- there's a couple of ways to skin this cat.

Ok, so I want a 4qt pan or 5 qt? Is there clearance issues with the 5qt?

The pan in this picture hold 6 quarts if memory serves, and it sits even with the bottom of the K-member. I did have to cut out a small V-shaped notch on the seam of the K-member to clear it.

Depends what you're putting it in...
And don't mistake pan capacity for system capacity. A "4 quart pan" holds 5 quarts with the filter.

Hope you ordered the oil pump pickup and dipstick/tube for that pan, too. The Magnum pickup won't work with a passenger car pan, and the Mag dipstick is for the stock rear sump pan.
I ordered the pickup but not the dipstick.

I RTV’ed my LA pan and used an unmodified Magnum one piece pan gasket without issue.

My preference would be to fix the pan so the notch was gone, but needed to get mine together so I went the RTV round and haven’t looked back.

Milodon sells a one piece gasket for their pro-touring pan (and others I assume), but no pictures to look at to see if they took care of the notch or just expect you to fill it with RTV.

Do you have any pics of it installed in your car, showing how low it hangs in the car compared to the K member? I have a 68 Barracuda that I am putting a 360 Magnum in and looking at this pan.

I'm heading out of town for a few days, but I'll try and grab a shot in the morning.
