I don't think you're going to get a complete run out of it with that rear. Make sure you film the explosion on the first hard launch and post it up for us to see. Seems like a whole lot of motor for that little rear. JMO. Mike

C'mon mike, he'll get at LEAST 1 or 2 runs out of it. LOL.

All kidding aside, you have enough motor to put the car into the 13's, and enough nitrous to get you into the 12's. But ValiantMike is right, that gear ratio and open rear will hold you back from doing so.

i know.....
for now the side gears and the pin are welded solid,so it's a bit stonger (i hope)

a 8 1/4 is on it's way...then i'll feel safer:burnout:

I'd say with some more track oriented gears like 3.91's or 4.10's you should be able to touch mid 12's on the bottle.

You might get a few more passes out of the old 7 1/4. But it WILL break. Probably in the bleach box doing a burnout for the final round in front of all your Chevy friends.

You might want to consider a 8 3/4....

I seen one come apart at the line and the pinion let go and the drive shaft
jumped out and hit the wall.:bom:
be sure to put a drive shaft retainer in as soon as possible. you will need it with either rear ends. :burnout:12.07 will be your first pass:study:

Here's a piece of advice, that I finally came up with. Try not to go to the track with "any" pre-concieved notions about what your car should run. Most times, you'll be dissappointed. It takes time, and patience to wring full value from your car. It looks like you have a strong basis to begin with, though. Enjoy!

Thanks for saying that & how true it is!

I'd like to have more numbers on the cam and how it was installed. Is this a full tilt race car? For all that work and effort, the two things I believe will hold you back is the 3000 converter, and the entire rear suspension setup. Slapper bars? Cripes, why not just tie it to a pole? What kind of springs and shocks do you have? Tires? Weight? Fuel? Jetting? Do the rear end of this thing correctly and it should run low twelves, WITHOUT the Panther Piss. Until then, you'll be lucky to see 13's, and hope to God you don't snap an axle in the lights. Stop trying to impress the baby bottle bunch and let's do this right the first time. The gang to help you be successful is right here at the PC. RICK
