Finally getting the stage of needing the car (1970 Duster) back on the ground and want to start looking for some used tires.

What size tires should I look for?

I will be using the following aluminum slot wheels:

Front: 14x6
Backspace: 3.50"

Rear: 14x8
Backspace: 3.50"

Hello KOONTZ,
I installed a set of BF Goodrich Radial TA on a customers duster.
Front 225 70 R 14 96S
Rear 235 70 R 14 98S
Found them at a local used tire shop.
Has nice ride height and good looking stance.
You can google BF Goodrich Radial TA for all the specs on the tire.
Hope this helps
Stay Safe......
Happy Mopar :)

E 70 14 for a original car. I just bought a set of 4 this week.

BBP or SBP? What brakes on the front? What axle out back? Can make a pretty big difference with what will actually fit, especially with a 3.5” backspace.

With 3.5 back space that's the issue right there you need more than that 4.25-4.5 depending on your set up in the rear

Thanks for the info

The car came with rotted out GR70s (27x7-1/4) in the front and G50s (24-1/2x10) in the rear

I was fairly certain 205/70 would fit up front ........and even 205/75

I was thinking about 235/60 in the rear

In the front a 205/70/14 will fit, a 75 will be 26.1” tall but it sounds like you have taller already. A 215/70/14 should work as well.

In the back that 3.5” backspace on a 8” rim is terrible. A 225 will fit, anything wider than that and you’ll be depending on your ride height to keep the tires from hitting the body. A 235 will be close. That’s the wrong backspace for the rear, plain and simple. A duster can fit 275’s if the backspace is good.

The ole M-50-14....had a set of Pro trac and hi jackers back in 86'... back then we called that California style

Here the car with the the G50s and aluminum slots i want to use

I feel the big block sagged the front end down a tad and the G70s (27x7-1/4) were a tight fit up front........

Some modern front tire sizes I have found:
215/75R14: 26.7" x 8.5"
215/70R14: 25.9" x 8.5"
205/75R14: 26.1" x 8.1"
205/70R14: 25.3" x 8.1"

I think I am going to try to find two nice used 205/70 tires

I agree and since I have matching front and rear sets.........I want to make them work
I got 3 matching sets now
One 14x6 and 14x10 (those have the N50s on them)

One 15x7 and 15x8s (with 275-60 drag radials on them)

Both of those sets are slotted mags

And then a buddy just gave me a set of 15 inch draglitez with some skinnies

Of course, those don't fit my 71, so im afraid ill have to buy a 73 now ( @Princess Valiant would never let me live it down)

Got a friend that can mount them for cheap?

I like the overall size of the 235/60R14

The G50s are about 24-1/2x10

A typical 235/60 is 25 x 9.3.......not sure I can go with a taller tire

Well looks like I need to find some SBP slot mags for the rear

With the old setup, the rim was about 2" from the leaf springs..........so I assume the backspacing was the issue

If anyone knows of some or had some, please let me know

I would like a 14x7 or 14x8
