Asked once before without much an answer. I have a 71 dart with coil overs and a ladder suspension . I wanna know wide of a slick I can run under my car and what back spacing is needed ro run it. Obviously leaf spring interference wont be an issue. I wanna run a short tire because of my 3.23 gear... Thanks

Stock wheelhouse? I'd say easily a 10.5, possibly an 11.5 if you massage the wheel openings.

ok so what about backspace needed and . im only using a 14 inch wheel because my 3.23 gears suck

if you are using a 14 inch diameter rim your selection of slicks is somewhat limited..what you are concern with 3.23 gears is the overall diameter of the slick...

looking at Mickey Thompson ET Slicks ....only 2 sizes are available..

26 x 8.5 x14
28 x 9 x 14

the 26 inch diameter is better then the 28 inch diameter with 3.23...change the rear rims to 15..and there is hell of alot more sizes available.

Probably gonna have to

Alot of good thought/ideas here so far.......so here's mine....

Slicks, tubes and rims are too expensive to keep trying/swapping around. Take the time and some serious thought about where you want to be in the future. If you're gonna change gears at some point, i'd just get what you'll realy need down the road. I completely understand using the short tire for now....long story, but i actully ran a 22" tire on a 13" rim before on a brand X because it had a 2.73 gear......lol.

What i'm getting at is, a 9" tire can run some serious numbers and whatever diameter works for fitment and looks, be it a 14" or 15" rim, 26"/27"/28" tire, i would just do it once and be done with it.

My opinion...every car is different, so I wouldn't be on here asking what to run without putting a tape measure to your car in a couple of spots to see what really fits...The recommendations here will be close, but you don't want to order something and not have it fit or work. There are instructions for measuring wheel width and backspacing all over the net

With leaf springs and stock tubs...I had 9 x 28 x 15 on our 71 Dart.

I would say but I don't want to be flipped off doing it  X2 on mshred post :D

I will let you know in 2 weeks...as I wont be home for two weeks...

they were sbp centerlines ...so they had to be either 3 1/8 or 4 7/8
