Ok got a set of 10" wide wheels and wondering what tire width would look best as far as being to wide or to small on the rim. Hate to buy and mount only to not be what I want. 18x10 wheel and want 285/40 or 295/40. Both will fit just don't want much of a bulge at all. Thanks

Here’s my car with 285/35R18 on a 18x9.5+12
Required a little work to the front fenders.

Here’s my thread about it that has some info on how I did it and some other sizing stuff from other users.

I've have mounted both 275/60R15 which are a little small on that wheel and 295/65R15 which fit better. 30 inches tall though. In my 68 Plymouth Roadrunner. The 275s were supposed to be 28 inches but on a 10 inch wheel were a little smaller. The 295s were right at 30.A 285 or 295 isn't going to be significantly different. A 285 by 1 manufacturer may sit better than a 295 by a different manufacturer. Apples to apples comparison the 295 will probably fit better. Not sure about that recommendation in a 40 series though. Good luck

I was going to put a 8" wheel on front with maybe a 245/40/18. Trying to decide if I want 40 or 45 series tire..yours looks nice.

Actual tire sizes vary a lot by tire manufacturer. Even just looking at the specs you can see that, if you look up the section widths for 275/35/18's you'll find a range of 10.5" to 10.9" just based on manufacturer, and those are all tires in the same performance category. That's a big difference if you're worried about how the tire will look on the rim. The height makes a big difference too which you can see in my pictures, a taller tire will bulge less for the same width just because it has more space to adjust to the width of the rim compared to the section and tread width.

Honestly I think anything in the recommended spec range will be ok, if you put a set of tires on the narrowest rim allowed then there will be some sidewall bulge, if you put them on the widest rim allowed they may look a little stretched. For handling the widest rim allowed is usually best, but for the street I actually like to run towards the narrower widths allowed because it gives a little sidewall protection to the lip of the rim.

Here's some pictures of my car, I run 18x9's in the front and 18x10's in the back.
