Doing 1/8th mile, know the front of the tire trips 1st bulb,if i go mid deep after 2nd bulb I go red 90% of the time, shallow I am getting consistant .0 somethings,so i kinda got my starts figured out,,,redoing front of car for better areo,What trips the lights at the end?I allways here and see,,,By a bumper,or a fender,I think I want my bumper, front end longer to fool the lights,Am I totally nuts?Guzzi Mark, running a 62 Valiant chop top,all motor,8.34 @ 80 in the 1/8th,,,,SLANT SIX,197 rear wheel hp @ 5400 rpm,I want more but want to maximize this motor, then will build better,I think present combo will max out at 8.20s.More gear is next on my list,I want a 7,99 car,Mark

Your post is very confusing! But, if I get it, the tire is supposed to trip any beam. If the car hangs low, a body part may trip it.
You must've had more coffee than me when you wrote that!

The stage beams are less than 3 inches off the ground. All other beams are 6 inches off the ground. So cars that are at the legal three inches in front trip the beams with the body. Most door cars will trip the beams with the tires, Dragsters, altereds and such usually have some sort of nose that is in front of the front tires that is 3 inches off the ground.

Re read my orig post several times,I understood it perfectly after 5 reads, was very confusing ,SORRY,,,got the answer I wanted,Thanks Mark

At the end of the track there are two sets of beams, when your car trips the first one it gives you your ET. The second set calculates your MPH. Does this help?

hi, at the end, the first beam starts the MPH trap, the second beam is for E.T and stops the MPH trap, MPH is recorded at the last 66 ft. the last beam is the E.T beam, it is 1320 ft from the start beam.

Okay,if my tires trip the stage beam 3 inches off the ground, but I have a dam that is 20 inches forward at 5 inches off the ground, will it trip the beams at the big end of the track, getting me a better time?Sorry,,,,trying to figure out any way to keep the Slant and run a couple 10ths faster, cant spray, stock pistons and 10.7 compression,Mark

Take a walk to the "big end' of your track and try to see how high the beams are. I didn't realize they are higher than the start beams. Maybe get a good pic of your car going through.
The largest diameter front tire you can fit will give you a "roll" at the start. The clock doesn't start til you break the beam with the rear side of your front tire. You're moving faster, and are further down the track with a larger tire when this happens. It helps more than you would think.
