The headlight switch on my 68 Barracuda has a spade connector on the back of it. What wire connects to it?

Is it part of the harness or separate ? I don't see it in the schematic and my old harness was butchered pretty bad.

I have never seen one. Looks like something you will have to add.

It's an add on for the "newer" switches. Extra grounds are a good thing. We did the same thing with our 67 cuda. Ran it to steering column.

That extra spade connector is used when the switch is install in a plastic surround such as a dash panel. If the hole that the switch fits into is metal on the back side you are good to go, the switch is then grounded.

Same switch used all the way up through the 1990s on dodge pickups and vans. It was mounted in plastic dashes, and required a seperate ground. Your A body dash the ground is through the mounting nut and into the metal dash frame.

..........And to explain further..........the reason the switch body must be grounded is that the dimmer knob when twisted left, grounds the dome/ courtesy lamp circuit, switching it on

And one more note. The A-body switches have a 15 amp circuit breaker for the headlights.
AFAIK its the only one with a 15 amp breaker.

Yep, all above is correct. aftermarket produces "one size fits all". So even if your earlier model build application doesn't have a chassis ground wire to put on that terminal, adding one could only help inst' panel ground over all.

Regarding my 67 barracuda, what is the difference between the 1 5/8 rheostat or the 1 1/4 rheostat does it really matter?
i see both at classic industries for the same application.
