Yesterday I was driving through town and I happened to spot a 1985(ish) Dodge D50 parked. I have a bit of a soft spot for the 1st Gen D50's, and own an '84 myself.

What caught my eye is, the truck looked beautiful from the outside (Which is rare in this area. I thought i was the only person in a 50 mile radius who still owned a 1st Gen D50)

I pulled over to take a closer look at the truck, when things got "interesting" Let me pause the story to say this : In 2008 someone stole the Passenger Side Door for my '84 (while the truck was torn apart), along with the window from the Driver's side door. The door in question was white with airbrushed stripes, and dark metallic blue paint on the interior side, and custom Blue/Black Door Panels.

I still have the Matching Driver's Side Door, fenders and the Bed too. (they came from my '83 D50 Parts Truck that donated body parts to my '84) The other door is in storage the bed is on my '84

Funny thing is... This '85 D50 I saw yesterday is wearing a fairly new coat of paint on the outside (Bright Red)... But the Interior of the Passenger Side Door is painted Dark Metallic Blue, and has a custom Blue/Black Door Panel :mumum: While the rest of the interior was gray.

Who here thinks that's the door that was stolen from me? I don't think there's any way I could prove it though :wack: There are no body numbers or ID tags on the Passenger door (just the driver's door and driver's striker post)

But if it matches the other door perfectly from your truck, you could put up a good arguement with the police.

Ask the owner where he got that door. Tell him you are looking for one for your truck. See what he says...

Unless you have pictures and a police report, I doubt there is much you can do about it. Have you tried talking to the owner to see if he bought the door from someone?

id wait for him outside by the truck, with your door, and a baseball bat, confront him about it, and beat him senseless, and take your door back....:D:D:D

not the best idea, but hey, I'm italian....lol

Didn't see the owner, it was parked in a parking lot off the side of the road (Where there's about 20 different stores, banks, etc) I hung around for a couple minutes, but had to get back to the garage.

Never did get a police report for the stolen door, it happened sometime when I was on vacation in 2008 (I think) . Didn't even notice for several months after that, when I finally reached the point where I needed to install the doors on my truck, that's when I noticed the door was gone.

I do have pics of the doors from years ago though, None showing the interior of the Passenger Door though, just the interior of the driver's door.

Pursue it, if anything, you`ll find out who the thief is and know who to visit, if something else comes up missing, and if this guy is the thief, he`ll know and the cops will also and be living with the guilt.
should of got a tag#

Wow! Y'all are kinda froggy here today!:blob:

The door was stolen 3-4 years ago, and you are ready to accuse the present owner of theft? Suppose he just purchased this truck a few months ago?

But, it would be interesting to talk with him; find out how long he has owned the truck and say "hey, I have the matching door, and my passenger door was stolen from me!" and see what the reaction is...
